Something About Us

WARNING! This fic contains slash! That is love between two boys! In this case, two giant robot boys. The invigorating sound of heavy techno drifting from down the hall was something not so uncommon to those living in the Ark.  Blaster's arrival on Earth had seen an increase in the amounts of unusual music played around the base, adding what interested him of technopunk and heavy metal to Jazz's hip-hop and R&B.  Since he'd shown up, morale was higher than ever.  The two culturally adept mechs were pros at keeping nervous tension to a minimum, and no one knew how everyone around them worked better than they did.

Tracks swore they often knew others better than the others' knew the back of their own hands.

In some ways, he hated Blaster for it.  Jazz he could tolerate.  Jazz, when it came to how he treated you, was an open book.  The easy smile, the way he would just slink around you like a cat on the prowl.  He was a tactile creature, and often he'd put a hand on a comrade's shoulder or arm, and even if that mech was the sort who would shy away from someone's touch, it was Jazz. He naturally set others at ease.

Blaster, on the other hand, was all energy and movement.  He was not quite as tactile, but his smile and laughter were both infectuous.  And not only that... he had this amazing capability to make Tracks feel completely and utterly at ease.  It wasn't faked... it wasn't phony.  He just felt comfortable with Blaster.  More at peace than he had felt since Cybertron.

The sounds of the music changed as Tracks approached the communication officer's quarters further down the hall.  It was something softer, though the techno feel remanied.  He could hear the quick, soothing melody even as he approached, and his optics dimmed as he slid inside.  There was Blaster, relaxing after a long day of work.  He noticed that the door to the adjoining room was locked, and there was the sound of playful scuffling coming from within.

He saw the smile on the boom box mech's face and he couldn't help but smile back.  So Blaster had already put his "kids" to bed.  Or at least let them have the run of their little side room, all to themselves.  Whenever the cassettes were already out of sight upon Tracks' arrival, he knew his mate was up to something.

The red and gold mech slid to his feet gracefully, spinning and swaying in time with the music that played, moving towards Tracks with that easy, lazy grin.  His voice was smooth and sweet and Tracks revelled in listening to him sing as he moved.

"It might not be the right time; I might not be the right one.  But there's something about us I want to say, 'cause there's something between us anyway."  Grinning, he took Tracks' hands.  The corvette smiled right back.  He had always been somewhat amazed at how easily Blaster could shift his voice to emulate what he heard.  Pulling his mate close as another verse passed, Blaster dipped his head for a kiss, smiling into it, humming against Tracks' lips before he just kept singing.  "I need you more than anything in my life.  I want you more than anything in my life.  I'll miss you more than anyone in my life.  I love you more than anyone in my life..."

And as the two continued to sway, frames flush against one another, the music continued to play on softly behind...
